Kalkan, Turkey

Merhaba, Kalkan! (Hello, Kalkan!) A cozy Mediterranean town on the picturesque turquoise coast of Turkey, Kalkan nests around the harbour at the foot of the Taurus Mountains. Kalkan, Turkey A glimpse of history Kalkan was settled by both Greek and Turkish people about 200 years ago. It was also known by its Greek name   Kalamaki . During the 19th century Kalkan was an important port. The settlement grew and flourished step by step, however, due to the improvement of the road system in 1950-s, sea trading was no longer possible and people had to move to larger cities in search of work. Luckily in 1960-s wealthy English yachtsmen were attracted by the harbor of Kalkan. Nowadays, tourism plays one of the major roles in the economy of the town. Kalkan, Anatolya, Turkey Why Kalkan? Central beach, Greek style narrow streets, numerous restaurants and friendly people make Kalkan very special. For landscape photographers it is a very attractive spot, as the town of
